Surgical Skill Prediction from Behavioral Patterns

This project analyzed the behavioral patterns of different subject groups (students, residents, attendings) doing a surgical simulation task. 2D hand pose estimations were estimated from multiple views and triangulated to 3D hand pose sequences. A monocular body pose estimation model was applied to estimate the subject’s body pose movement during the task session. Analyses on the estimated pose sequences reveal significant differences between students and experienced doctors.
